New Mic Pre Amp?

I can’t believe March is here already! It seems February went by quickly – although it may be because I had laryngitis and didn’t work from February 17 through the 27. I haven’t been away from working that long in my adult life! Thankfully, with the help of rest and meds, my voice is finally back to full strength. Thanks to all of you that have been patient during my recovery.

As the year progresses, I’m expanding the studio (and my business) to produce projects utilizing multiple voiceovers to be recorded with killer mic pre-amps/compressors. Currently I utilize a Universal Audio LA-610 as my primary Mic pre. I’m open to branching out to try a new processor, but the UA LA-610 Mark II is an attractive option. A friend had suggested the API “The Channel Strip” as a piece I should strongly consider. As he put it, “it sounds so good, it’s almost cheating!” I believe I may try that out soon and it may end up in the mic chain by the next time I write in the blog. If you have other suggestions, I’d love to get your feedback.

With the discussion of production work, I think I’ll share a spot I did for Ledge Entertainment last year to promote a rock festival for a local radio station.

I really enjoy the entire creative process of mixing music, sfx and the energy these final spots convey. If you’re looking for services for your event, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
