Sound proofing and a new spot

Not only "bad and nation wide"...I've gone global, baby!

When I built my current studio in 2001, I thought I put enough acoustic foam in the vocal booth. I tend to speak toward a corner that has both walls and ceiling covered with Auralex Studiofoam Wedges -burgundy-colored because I like a little splash of color. As my client list has grown and the number of sessions via ISDN have increased, I had a client mention that he heard a little too much studio noise for his liking. So I purchased another box of my favorite colored Studiofoam Wedges. I had forgotten how expensive that stuff was - I experienced mild sticker shock when I ordered that new box. I remember the good 'ol budget days of the late 80’s when we used to cover studio walls at our radio station with egg cartons and mattress pad . Times have changed!

Now that it’s up, I’m curious to know if any of you hear a difference in the audio quality of the spots you receive. Feedback is always appreciated.

By the way, keep in mind that I will be out of the studio and unavailable next week - Thursday, February 17 thru Monday, February 21. I’ll be back at the Mic bright and early on Tuesday.

For this post, I thought I'd share an ad that ran in the Sultanate of Oman. It's for a major telecom service provider called OmanTel. I was excited to receive the call from the agency to do this. The production folks did a terrific job with the images and music. It still gives me a sense of amazement that my voice is heard all over the world. Enjoy and feel free to comment!
